A normal bath towel pushes water around. This one actually takes it up, which means fewer towels, less shaking, and a dog that is dry enough to be let back into the house rather than confined to the utility room for half an hour.

Keep one by the back door and one in the car. Wash without fabric softener, which coats the fibres and reduces how much water they take up.
