Sofas and pets are a losing battle. Hair works into the weave, muddy paws leave marks that never quite come out, and cat claws find the arms within a week. A cover moves that problem somewhere you can put in the washing machine.
This one drapes over the seat and the back rather than covering the seat alone, in a thick woven fabric with a water-resistant finish and an anti-slip backing that grips the upholstery when your dog jumps up.
Which size fits your sofa
| Size |
Fits |
Roughly |
| 170 × 166 cm |
Two-seater |
Up to about 160 cm wide |
| 170 × 235 cm |
Three-seater |
About 160–220 cm wide |
| 170 × 280 cm |
Large three or four-seater |
About 220–270 cm wide |
Measure across the front of your sofa from arm to arm, then add roughly 15 cm so the cover has enough to tuck in at the sides. The 170 cm is the depth — it runs from the top of the back, over the seat, and down the front.
Between two sizes? Take the larger one. A cover that is slightly too big tucks away; one that is too small rides up every time your dog turns over.
What you get
- Thick woven fabric — heavier than a throw, so it holds its position
- Water-resistant finish that sheds spills long enough for you to wipe them up
- Anti-slip backing that grips the upholstery
- Covers the back and the seat, not just the seat
- Machine washable — wash cool, line dry
- Three sizes, in brown, red or grey
Water-resistant, not waterproof
This is a distinction worth being clear about. The finish sheds liquid on the surface, so a knocked-over drink or a wet dog sits on top long enough for you to deal with it. It is not a sealed barrier: leave a puddle on it for an hour and it will find its way through to the cushion underneath.
If your worry is hair, mud and the occasional spill, this is the right product. If you need something that will hold a full accident from an unwell or incontinent pet, you want a mat with a sealed backing rather than a fabric cover.
And it is not claw-proof
No fabric is. A cat that kneads the arm of the sofa or a dog that digs at cushions will work through this the same way they work through upholstery. If scratching rather than mess is your problem, a cover buys you time, not a solution — a scratching post placed next to the sofa does more.
It also will not sit perfectly flat on a leather sofa. The anti-slip backing grips woven fabric far better than it grips leather.
Just as useful for cats
Cats shed onto furniture as thoroughly as dogs do, and they pick one spot and return to it. A cover over that spot catches most of a season's hair, and a quick shake outdoors clears it without a wash cycle.
Care
Machine wash cool and line dry. Avoid high heat in a tumble dryer — it shortens the life of the water-resistant finish. Shake it out between washes and most loose hair comes away on its own.
