Getting a dog properly dry

Start at the head and work backwards — dogs shake from the front, so drying the ears and face first buys you a few seconds of calm. Squeeze rather than rub through the coat; rubbing tangles long hair and most dogs tolerate it badly.

Wash without fabric softener. It coats the fibres and is the usual reason a towel stops absorbing well after a few months.
