Fireworks & Calm
Bonfire Night and New Year are the two loudest evenings of the British year, and plenty of dogs find them hard going. These are the practical things that help: something to muffle the bangs, somewhere dark to retreat to, and a snug wrap that some dogs settle in.
None of it is a cure. If your dog genuinely panics — hiding, shaking, refusing food — that is worth raising with your vet, who can talk you through desensitisation and, where it is warranted, medication. Introduce anything new on a quiet day well before the fireworks start, not on the night itself.
